How a PTO Shaft Works on a Sprayer

Power flows from the tractor’s engine through the transmission to the rear PTO stub, which rotates at 1000 RPM. The PTO shaft’s tractor-side yoke slides onto this stub via a splined connection (21-spline 1 3/8″), locking it in rotation. Torque passes through the first cross-and-bearing assembly, down the telescoping profile tube, and through the second cross-and-bearing assembly into the Sprayer’s input shaft. The profile tube design (Triangular Profile Tube) provides both torque transmission and axial slide capability, critical as the Sprayer moves relative to the tractor during fieldwork. The safety guard encloses the rotating shaft and both universal joint areas, spinning freely on bearings to prevent entanglement. Should an obstruction cause a sudden load spike, the Ratchet Clutch mechanism activates, absorbing the shock and preventing catastrophic failure.
